In these there is one vowel that uses its “name”. In most these it is the first vowel. Remember that if you read a word and the letter “sound” does not work use the letter “name”. It is important too to understand that you have to decide which book to use. Maybe a word will be broken down using the rule in the Purple Book 1 or maybe it will be broken down using the rules in the Brown Book. You have to try each when a word is in doubt and decide which is correct.
