This page is for the purpose of reviewing the rules concerning “ing” ending. When a word ends in “e” you drop the “e” and add “ing”. Because it came from a word that followed the rule in the Brown Books the vowel still says its “name”. So, for example, the word “tape” with “ing” added would be spelled “taping” But if the word did not have an “e” on the end but had a Consonant instead you double the Consonant and add “ing”. Like the word “tap” with “ing” added would become “tapping”.
